Students take on a variety of roles including those of programme editor, bulletin editor, presenter, sports reporter, showbiz correspondent and traffic and travel reporter.
Each programme includes a news bulletin, a sports bulletin and recorded features. Students are encouraged to present stories in a range of styles including live inserts from location, two-ways and both live and recorded voice pieces. Students make use of the Report-It app, ISDN and TBU facilities. Where appropriate, features will use music, effects archive and actuality.
Although students are expected to work independently they are supported throughout the process by tutors who advise on story selection and treatment, assist with securing suitable contributors and provide technical help with recording, editing and studio operation.
Tutors provide feedback throughout the programme-making progress as well as a detailed ‘post mortem’ after each programme has been broadcast.
